Gravure rotogravure ink is suitable for gravure printing Craft which is one of the four major printing methods.
Our company has industry-leading rotogravure ink. Click here for more details.
Gravure printing is a direct printing method, it will be the ink contained in the pit of the intaglio plate directly embossed on the substrate, the thickness of the printed image level is determined by the size and depth of the pit, if the pit is deeper, it contains more ink, embossed on the substrate left on the thicker layer of ink; on the contrary, if the pit is shallow, it contains less ink, embossed on the substrate left on the thinner layer of ink.
The gravure printing plate is composed of a crater corresponding to the original text and the surface of the printing plate. When printing, the ink is filled into the pit, the ink on the surface of the plate is scraped off with an ink scraper, and there is a certain pressure contact between the plate and the substrate to transfer the ink in the pit to the substrate to complete the printing.
Gravure printing, as a kind of printing process, occupies an extremely important position in the field of printing, packaging and graphic publishing with its advantages of a thick ink layer of printed products, bright colors, high saturation, high printing plate resistance, stable print quality and fast printing speed.
Key characteristics of gravure inks include:
• Viscosity: Gravure inks typically have a precise viscosity to ensure smooth and consistent ink flow during the printing process.
• Drying properties: These inks need to dry quickly to avoid smudging and allow for high-speed printing.
• Pigments and colorants: Gravure inks contain pigments or colorants that provide vibrant and accurate colors in the final print.
• Adhesion: The ink must have good adhesion to various substrates to prevent cracking or flaking.
• Chemical resistance: Gravure inks may need to resist chemicals and environmental factors to maintain print quality and integrity.
Advantages:
• Ink expressiveness of about 90% with rich tones.
• Strong color reproduction. Strong plate resistance.
• Ambitious printing quantity and high printing efficiency.
Disadvantages:
• The cost would be high if printing small batch products.
• Solvent-based gravure ink may not be suitable for environmental protection requirements in your area. Our company has Water-based rotogravure ink is eco-friendly ink, Click here for more details.
